has anyone tried to install a GM HEI ignition on an older gen 1 mopar power wagon? i found a website today that explained how to bypass the resistor block useing a GM HEI system. just wanted to see if anyone here has tried it.

 

I have HEI module on my 86.
What year is your truck?
What size engine do you have?

hey thanks for the response, i just finished up wiring in the GM ignition module. i ended up using a ford hei coil (only because i already had on on hand). it runs better than ever. if you go with a gm module, you have to run a different coil because the stock mopar coil cant handle a full 12 volt charge for very long, and apparently that is why the used the resistor block.

 

Im sorry i forgot to add that my truck is a 1974 w200 crewcab.

 

Yeah I love the HEI on mine.
