How difficult and whats involved in converting a A518 2 wheel drive transmission to a 4 wheel drive? I have a line on a great A518 2 wheel drive trans and need to replace the dead 4 wheel drive unit in my 1993 one ton.

 

Swap the parts from the 4WD on the two, You need to replace the tail housing and output shaft.

 

Im reading some discussion on spline differences between the 2 and 4 wheel drive versions of the A518. Im on a really fast learning curve here if I want to get this 2 wheel drive A518. It sounds like you are saying I will have everything I need to make the conversion without buying additional parts. Is that correct? Thanks for the clarification. Sorry Im not as educated as I should be and asking amateur questions!
