How to adjust speed control 1986 B350?
1 Attachment(s)
Does anyone know how to adjust the speed control (cruise) solenoid at the carburetor? I'm not sure what it is called. It's a 1986 B350 Van 360ci automatic. It works but bleeds off 15-20 mph. As far as I can tell, there are no vac leaks or elec problems.

That solenoid doesn't have anything to do with cruise control. There should be a servo at the other end of one of the cables on the throttle linkage for cruise. If it is bleeding off speed, you either have a problem with the servo, or, something isn't getting the right speed readings.

Thanks for reply. Here's what I have found:
The single wire from the servo connects to the single wire on the solenoid. Mine had been disconnected. I connected and cruise now works, it just bleeds off about 15-20mph. Therefore the solenoid definitely is part of the speed control. The solenoid looks like it opens (rod goes out) and connects with the throttle and therefore keeps the speed. |
Servo and cable should hold throttle open...... I have no clue what role that solenoid plays. I was under the impression that it was to bump idle with the A/C compressor engaged..... That's just weird. The solenoid doesn't show up anywhere in the wiring diagram.
