Default 84 cranks but wont start

84 has power to starter relay but does not have power to coil or ballast resistor. Truck will crank but will not start due to the fact that there is no power to the coil. If I hook a wire from the battery to the coil it will start and stay running. When my key is in the "on" position I do not have any power. My question would be what supplies the power to the ignition switch? second question would be that when the key is in the "on" position should I have voltage from the relay going to the ballast resistor?

have you checked the fuses? best to start at the fuse panel and see what has power with the key on and which fuses don't.

did you test for power at the fuses? you can use a multimeter or test light to test for power. you need to figure out where the power is stopping.

Do you have the Chrysler Lean Burn ignition that everybody hates, or is it a conventional electronic ignition?
