Default Lean Burn Computer

Can I replace the lean burn computer with a HEI distributor with vaccuum advance? I have a 1987 D150 with a carbed 318. Thanks

yes you can but some HEI distributors do not fit these trucks without massaging the firewall a bit. you might also need to swap the carb with a non computerized carb since i think the lean burn carb has a couple parts in it that are computer controlled. without the computer things may not run as it should.

Thanks crazzywolfie, Maybe instead of an HEI I should go old school. Jegs has electric ignition kits for reasonable prices.

if the HEI setup does not have the coil built in it should probably work and fit no issue but i do know some people like the simplicity of the 1 wire distributor like the ones used on most older chevy's
