Default hello all..truck problem.

as some of you may or may know (or may or may not care for that matter), I have an 84 ramcharger. It is no beauty, but it runs well. Just this week, the left turn signal indicator on the cluster lights up when the turn signal is not on. the lights all work, and the turn signals all work, but it is always lit up (but very dim compared to when it is blinking for the turn signal). I do not know much about wiring issues, but has anyone dealt with a problem like this one?

thanks!

Well, you did what you should have, but this is usually always a bad bulb, parking lights, brake lights, turn signal, marker lights, 3rd brake light (if equipped).

yeah, as soon as i saw it, i thought, well, i have a bulb out..but i checked everything, and all seems well...the truck runs great, er, well, really well considering the shape that its in...it sat for months at a time, and was fine, and i drove it this past saturday to get the xmas tree, then the next day, the light was dimly lit...

My right blinker light is doing that in my Ram, and my friend's does the same. Nobody really cares enough to do anything about it. I suspect it's the blinker module itself going bad, and I might replace that. Or I might not.

It started about two months ago I guess, but it's not always like that, sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's flickering, and sometimes it's just sitting there dimly lit. I might yank it out today and see about getting a replacement. I've checked all of the bulbs and swapped some around and that didn't help, they all work fine. I thought it might be a ground issue too, but since everything works properly that didn't really make sense. I'll let you know if replacing that module fixes it.

Well I bought a replacement flasher unit, the one I put in 3 years ago had a crack in the case, but that wasn't the culprit. I swapped the bulbs out, not it. I noticed that my parking light isn't working in the front pass corner, so I've figured out that there's some sort of short going on there. I unplugged the light socket from the wiring harness and cleaned it up a bit and that took care of it for a while, but I think I need to just pony up and get a whole new socket assembly. It's all kinds of rusty inside, wouldn't hurt to replace it.
