Default New Member... Old Dodge

Hello Fellow Dodge(ers).

I am new to this forum and I am deeeeeep into a 1973 Dodge W200 Crew Cab rebuild. In particular, I have stripped down the Dana 44 front axle in order to refresh all of the parts that have worn out over the past 46 years. I AM HAVING TROUBLE FINDING PARTS. Seems the previous owner(s) went through the trouble of doing some of this work in the past.... but they removed some parts and just did not bother replacing them.

I am working on the ends of the Dana 44, manual hubs (Warn 9072), drum brakes and wheel bearings. I have successfully replaced the upper and lower ball joints, the hub inner and outer wheel bearings and inner hub bearing seal.

I removed the spindle and found that I am missing (on both sides of the axle) the seals that are located at the inner end of the spindle. In my mind, this seal would be very similar to the hub inner bearing seal (metal casing with a rubber inner lip)…. and it would be directly pressed into the end of the spindle facing the center of the truck. What I really need is a diagram of this assembly and any/all part numbers related to the complete Dana 44 outer axle/hub/spindle assembly in order to complete this rebuild/refresh correctly.

I have been to NAPA, Autozone, O'Reillys, Arizona Differential.... all have produced disappointing results. I have searched the internet for hours... Ford and Chevy Dana 44 parts up the whazoo, 1972 to 1974 Dodge specific Dana 44 (tag id on the diff cover 45-11.... 4.09) are harder than hens teeth to find. I have purchased two leading brand maintenance manuals which makes me want to throw them in the bonfire.

Please help me get this truck back on the road.

Regards,
