Default 727 Shifts Early From 2-3

Close to wrapping up swapping a 318 Manual to a 360 and a 727.

Engine runs strong, had it revved up to 6000ish and sounds awesome. Took it for a test drive and it has all sorts of power in 1st gear , gets a bit of power in second gear and then it feels like the transmission shifts to third way to early and the truck loses alot of power. Foot to the floor and it's maybe topping out at 2500 rpm. Past couple days we've been fighting it thinking that it's the kickdown linkage we had to make up for it until last night. Last night we disconnected the kickdown cable and used the ratchet function on our shifter to go 1-2-3 and it has all the power in the world. Leave it in drive and it loses power around 40mph it falls off and limited back to 2500 rpm. Shift it back to 2nd and I get the power back and then if I shift it to third when it's supposed to it runs like a champ.

So this leads me to think something is causing it to shift to third way to early. I've read that there's a jam nut and a bolt to tighten one of the band's on the transmission for this shift and that might solve the issue? Does anyone know the spec to tighten that down to? I've seen people say 72" pounds and then everything from back it off a turn and a half to backing it off 3 turns.

are you sure you got the kick down adjusted properly? it makes a huge difference to when it shifts.
