Default Replace Vacuum With Mechanical Controls

1987 Ram 150, looks like a POS but only has 66,000 actual miles on it.
The frakking heater controls are a mess, with the vacuum moters rusted and diaphrams rotted, not to mention the very brittle plastic tubing cracking all over the place.
Has anyone replaced all the heater/vent controls with mechanical?
It would be nice to flip a lever and have the door actually function...

Even if there where a way to replace the actuators with mechanical how would you control them? The actuators have springs in them so whatever means you used would have to be strong enough to keep the doors in position.I think it would be easier and cheaper to just fix what you have. You can replace the plastic lines with silicone lines. I'm sure you can find replacement actuators on ebay.
