Default 1979 Dodge Truck doors/panel for 1993 Dodge Ram

I'm confused with all I'm reading about which years are interchangeable. I found a 1979 Dodge Truck that has the doors and panels in good shape. Thinking of switching out and using on my 1993 Dodge Ram since I need window, tracks, and panel. Will this work? I'm reading 1st Gen didn't start until 1981. Thanks!

Actually anything before 1993 can be considered first gen but in 81 Dodge first used the "ram" name so that's how 81-93 came about. This topic has come up a few times that many (including me) think they got it wrong but it is what it is. Since you can get door panels for the 93 and i'm sure they are more prevalent (used) than the 70's ones i would use them. They look different and they are not reproduced(70's), the body changed in 81 also. Can't say if they can't be modified to fit though.

Thanks Moparite. I went ahead and bought both full doors with glass off the 74 yesterday, I at least hope I can use the glass and tracks. It's definitely a learning process. Will let you know how it goes!
