Default 4bbl Intake manifold

Bought an aftermarket dual plane 4 bbl intake manifold for my 87 318... Found that you must eliminate the ac compressor because it sits right in the middle where the thermostat water outlet is on many of the 4bbl intakes. My question is does anyone know if the edelbrock 2176 will fit with the ac compressor?

I ask because it looks like it keeps the angled position of the factory thermostat allowing clearance for the compressor. I googled it and couldn't find an answer and neither the edelbrock website nor the PDF installation instructions say weather or not you can use it with ac.

Intake i bought

Edelbrock 2176

The first intake is a hybrid(fit's the LA and magnum) the 2176 21753 3775 look to have the bolt hole used to support the ac compressor. Look at the stock one and you will see where it bolts to. I have a single plane with ac but don't know the # for comparison.

I have read about port size difference from the aftermarket intakes into stock 318 heads. Sets up a poor flow dynamic. Check into that detail.

Finally got around to getting the intake done. In all fairness it's not 100% my fault the massive delay. The 2176 was and i still believe on back order. I tracked one down and finally got it in.

So to sum up if anyone wants to know if the Edelbrock 2176 will allow you to keep your AC the answer is yes. It fits with the compressor just fine. Thanks all who chimed in. Great forum.

not gonna be enough of an issue to lose sleep over on an otherwise stock 318.
