I need some advice. I have a 1982 Dodge D360 1 ton with 16.5, 8 lug wheels and I want to put on 16 inch 8 lug wheels and tires. Has anyone done this? What new wheels will fit over the brakes? Or, will I have to replace additional parts?

I bought some 16 inch tires recently and they are starting to get scarce. Why not go with some 17 inch wheels? More options of tires and wheels both.

Steel 17's that fit dogdish caps and has an appropriate backspacing?
No trouble getting 16" tires... all sizes need to be ordered-in for my neck of the woods. My buddy also found the 17" version of the duratracs we run is softer and wears out faster.

Personally, I'm a fan of black wheels and dog dish caps. The OP didn't say he wanted to go that route. With later rims, you can get all sorts of styles. Yes, you can order 16 inch tires. I just got some not too long ago. The tread, ply rating and such is getting restricted. 16.5 are really rare. You can get them, the 17's are more common and therefore cheaper.
