Default Intermittant Headlights

I understand that our light switches can be the culprit for intermittent non op headlights (my truck is an '83) Is it a matter of reflowing the solder or other. Are new switches still available or other? Thanks!

i would be looking at the dimmer switch on the floor. most common cause of headlights not working.

Yep, pulled floor switch, oem, plug a little burnt and melted slightly, picked up a new switch at Napa and also a 3 prong plug and wired in - all good now, thanks Wolfie!

no problem. like i said it is a common issue because of the location. i sometimes try to fill them up with lithium grease to help keep moisture. i also keep a couple on hand just in case since they are cheap. it may also be worth installing a headlight relay harness under the hood to take some stress of the dimmer switch connector. it can also in some case make a noticable difference to the light output of the headlights.
