Default 1973 Meyer plow engine accessory drive

I have a 73 Power Wagon 360 with a Meyer plow. This setup uses the normal power steering pump location for a power steering pump that is used for the plow hydraulics. Then a second power steering pump is mounted top center to provide power steering. I had it all apart this summer doing a lot of fixes. Had the heads re-done, broken exhaust stud removed. New timing chain. Edelbrock Performer dual plane intake, Holley carb. New distributor. Headers. Lots of stuff. Now it is snowing outside and I would really like my plow truck working. The problem is I have forgotten exactly how the accessory drive goes back together. There is an idler pulley used to tension the belt for the power steering mount and I am struggling to remember how that part goes together. I believe these were pretty common at one time but not so much anymore. Does anyone on here have one of these you could take some pictures of? Or maybe already have pictures or documentation on how this goes together?

Worst case I can break out the welder and do something a little custom, but if I can figure out how to use the original configuration, that would be cool.

Thanks.

You may be able to find some info from the factory service manual assuming this is a snow commander. Why not just use the newer style pump/motor assembly and you won't need the extra hydraulic pump? This is what i found via a google search.

These are some images I found before I started this thread. You can see the idler/tensioner to the right of the power steering pump. That is the part I am trying to get re-installed. Just can’t find the info so far. I will be mounting the pump today. I couldn’t do it yesterday because it had wet paint on it. I figured I would pretty it up a little since it was apart. I will post pics of my setup as it is now after I go to the garage.

What alternate pump were you referring to? An electric one? I would not be opposed to that, but I would need to invent a way to activate it when I need hydraulics. Not a big deal though.

Thanks again.

Here is the 360 waiting to be finished up.

Not pretty, but it does work.

Pump waiting to be installed

This is the tensioner and bracket.

It may be more obvious once the pump is on the motor. We shall see…

I was referring to a standard pump and reservoir like you see on plows today.

Yeah. That would mean a lot more expense and completely replacing the controls and everything. I like the simplicity of the completely mechanical setup. I would consider replacing the mechanical pump with electric but would want the remaining configuration left intact.

And, as luck would have it, I sort of re-engineered the power steering mount, or at least the tensioner, so it should work. I still have to put the radiator, fan, trans cooler lines, heater hoses, exhaust, and probably more, together. But right now all three belts are on and tensioned up. I think I am good to go now. It is Christmas today so I won’t be working on it again until at least tomorrow.

Finished tensioner config. For now.

Sorry it is sideways.
