82 dodge w150
hey guys so i have been fighting a issue with my 82 W150 with a 318 i can be driving it and at low RPM ( like stopping at a red light ) and it will just shut off almost like its running out of gas or you turn the key off but will start right back up it seems to do this more when the temp outside is hotter than if it is cooler outside. i have replaced cap, wire plugs, distributer coil new fuel pump probably a lot more but cant think of everything i have even changed the carb out to a holly EFI set up and still having same issue any help would be great thanks.

I've had a couple act like that. When you mentioned it happens when it's warmer out, that's the tip off. Your brain box is failing. I've been going down the road and it would start to cut out. Opening the hood and let the safety catch hold it ran cool air over it and it quit cutting out. Swap the engine ignition controller out with a known good one and I'll bet your issues go away. I'm trying to remember where it was on my '84 W150. It has an odd shaped wiring plug on it. Here is the part for a different year but for all non-lean burn systems. Lean burn is different. Otherwise they all use the same module.

If you have another older Mopar with it, swap it in and see if it makes a difference. If it does, swap it back and get a new one.
