yes, we got 55 after 37. We replaced the battery entirely. Yes, we've tried both with and without pressing gas while cranking.

Default Another update

Reran for codes and all we got was 12 for the battery being disconnected and 23. Other codes havr cleared from various repairs we've made on the journey. Went back to the diagnostic steps in the FSM and on the last test, we were able to produce a spark with the special jumper grounded directly between negative coil and negative battery terminal. Per FSM, we should be repairing wiring harness for an open condition so that's where we are now.

same same Sandra.. 1990 318 B250 van with suspect bad single board SBEC.. no start/no spark..i put new coil and HES pickup coil in distributor.
all wires continuity btwn the coil and dist. to the SBEC connector pins show good.. 12volts at the + coil terminal
Im assuming the new Duralast pickup coil $47 Autozone is good..
tmmrw im going to put a test light on the coil control , test light clippy to ground.. and pointy end on the negative, minus, control side of the coil.. I'm told it should "flicker" vs a steady light. (vs. the positive side of the coil which should be steady 12 volts bright)
this test should show me if the ignition driver circuit in the SBEC went bad..if it doesnt flicker..
wait.. or the sbec isnt getting the proper pulses from the distributor... that would do it too..
$46 bucks Sandra.. you could get a new (from china) AutoZone hall effect pickup coil .. 2 screws..easy to put in, at least in the van
amazing how complex electricity is!
have a nice weekend!
