Default 88 w250 wiring help

Okay all, I was given an old 88 w250, carb swapped but truck has been sitting since 04.... I need help understanding the wiring diagrams. as of now the only thing that's semi working is the ignition... truck will run but after about a minute of run time the truck loses power ( oil pressure light and gauges/ radio won't come on with key) and I lose power to coil. I am reading through the diagrams in a Haynes manual and it keeps saying *To Splice* what is the world does that mean? I'm trying to understand the ignition wiring but I just can't grasp it very well since it does not break it down. can anyone give me some insight please. thank you

"to splice" is to connect cut/stripped wires together to conduct electricity.

Whether Haynes is using the term correctly...

Which engine? If originally a 360 in 88 it was the last year of having a carburetor. If originally a 318 then it would be 1st year EFI which that system SUCKED.

In a manual "to splice" means to the wiring connection where it is spliced into the system. I've worked on earlier and later models but I've never really worked on the 1988-89 models. Basically an older engine but modified with fuel injection. Not being there I can't say for sure but the first place I would trouble shoot id the ignition switch. You have the key cylinder nd it operates a rod on the column. /the switch itself is on the column under the dash.
