Dana 60 in the junk yard
6 lug? Pretty sure only Dakotas and Durangos (in the dodge side) had 6 lug axles, 8 3/4 or 9 1/4 for rear and D44 up front. The 2500 should have 8 lugs.
Is it worth pulling? Yeah, if the axle is straight, the bearings and seals are good, and the brakes are complete.
What's wrong with your 9 1/4? The brakes on the D60 are bigger, the spring pads might be wider, the U-bolts may need to be different (depending on how it's all bolted together - the D60 has a larger axle tube iirc, so if the bolts aren't wide enough they won't fit), you may need to get a combo u-joint for different sized yokes between the driveshaft and the axle, etc. It's not going to be a direct swap, but it's not too terribly difficult either. Just be aware that there are a lot of things that may be quite different. Plus you'll need to get new wheels.

My 9 1/4 is just fine, but I wanted a sure grip. I'm going to tow a trailer one day, and would like the Big dana.
I didn't know how common they are to have sure grip, or do they all have it?
Yeah, I think it had the 8 lug, and not 6.
Thanks man
