Matinence Question
Hello, I was hoping someone might be able to help with an issue im having with my 1984 Dodge ram 150, its a starting problem, I have a standard 318 and cant figure out why it wont start ? Ive believe I already eliminated several possibilities,
But heres the problem, It happened kinda suddenly, I parked the truck turned off the engine and the tried restarting later, it almost started and then would only partially start,
Im able to get ignition and I know the engine is getting gas, but only temporarily! Its the same each time I start, (rise and fall) I start the engine, the engine rises and falls, but with no accelerator response, meaning.. (I try using the gas and it dosnt respond) But every time I turn the engine over, I get the same starting condition (rising and falling acceleration) Like I have residual gas in the system and it uses only what’s available, But its the same starting each time....Over and over) So I believe the gas pump is working..?
I don’t believe its the gas pump, Because ive heard if a gas pump goes, it goes all together (not partially)
So I dont know it this is electrically related, or a gas flow issue..? or what
Heres some of the things I already did, I gave the engine a full tune up, I changed the gas filter, ext,
Any advice someone could give me would be greatly appreciated

If you have a stock fuel pump, go ahead and replace it. The same thing happened to my D150 318 and it actuallay was the pump. When you start it, prime the carburetor with gas, but not much, just enough to start it. Don't use quick start fluid.
the mechanical pump partially went out in my truck, so i got a new electric pump from autozone for like 20 something bucks, installed it and it works great, you should switch to electric too, but make sure it get wired into ignition switch power so it only runs when the engine is on.
