CK WITH YOUR LOCAL KOBELCO (GOOGLE " KOBELCO" ) EXCAVATOR DEALER. THESE CAME WITH MITSU DIESEL OF THE SAME FAMILY AND IF THERE WORTH A DAMN SHOULD BE ABLE TO HELP YOU ALSO GOOGLE "ENGINE POWER SOURCE" THEY DEAL IN ALL TYPES OF DIESELS(I DEAL WITH THEM A LOT THANKS TO MY JOB) GOOD LUCK AND MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE OIL CHANGED. I DONT KNOW IF I'D PLAY AROUND TO MUCH AS FAR AS TERMS OF PERFORMANCE NOT BECAUSE IT WONT HANDLE IT BUT I DONT KNOW THAT ENGINE HARD PARTS ARE HIGH(LIKE 3200.00 FOR A NEW CRANKSHAFT)ON THE LATER STUFF AND ITS PROBLY A DRY SLEEVE ENGINE SO NOT TO MANY MACHINE SHOPS WANT TO MESS WITH'EM AT LEAST AROUND HERE ( ALALBAMA)
I jus bought yesterday one of these. A 1978 Dodge stepside 4x4 with auto. Has the Mitsu engine in there with a Schwitzer turbo.
After driving it only for one day I can say that it is lacking smoke and power. Can anybody advise me which screws to turn to add more fuel to it?

Not much conversation here...
Well, anyway: Started to do some mods to the truck and what a difference did a considerably bigger exhaust make. Iused 3,5" pipe and only one freeflow resonator and the tip exits right infront of the rear wheel. Boost gets up to about 18 psi and 100 mph is easy. And I've not yet even started modifying fuel delivery. It's almost lacking smoke, just a really tiny cloud when you slam it. So let's see what happens when it delivers somemore smoke.
I would quesstimate torque to currently be maybe around 350 newtonmeters and ponies around 150-160. But I will make sure of those figures once I have a dynorun behind me. True numbers can vary towards both directions naturally.

BTW,
how does one add fuel with the original Nippondenso inline pump? Do you need to tear it apart to do that?
What does the vee-shaped adjustable lever in the rear section of the pump in the side does? Where do I get Service Manual or a Repair manual?
