Default Help wit my 83

I hav an 83 Ram D150 P/U. It had been running really bad. Killing at stoplights and stop signs and sometimes not even starting. A friends told me my carb was bad so i put a new holley 2 barrel on it and did a full tune up. It ran better but still killed alot so i brought it to my mechanic. He told me that my idle was off and my automatic choke was shot. So i paid him to set the idle and to bypass the auto choke. In the morning it is hard to start cuz of the bypass but after i get it started and warmed up it would run perfect until recently. It is killing at stoplights again. It isnt the bypass cuz thats only causing the start up prob and i cant figure out want it causing it to kill. I changed the fuel filter, inlet aircleaner, and the PCV valve also. Any help?

Change the fuel pump and check the float valves in the carburetor.
