Trouble reading harmonic balancer 3.9 liter
I have answered my own question. I was 180 degrees off on the balancer. No need to respond to this question. I do not see a way to delete this post or I would and not bother the forum.
I have a simple question about reading the timing mark on the harmonic balancer on a 3.9 liter 1989 Dodge. The harmonic balancer has a mark that goes from the front to half way back. It seems to be the same depth as the magnetic pickup socket and about 3/16” wide. The magnetic pickup socket is about 15 degrees after TDC.
Is this the timing mark to use visually (without a magnetic pickup timing light) when finding TDC? Is there another line for non-magnetic timing? It seems that if this mark is correct for the magnetic pickup socket, then it is off by 15 degrees for non-magnetic timing. Any guidance would be appreciated.
