Default 86 Ram - Vents not blowing air

My 86 Ram, 5.2 ltr, is not blowing any air through the dashboard vents. Air is coming through the defroster vents and I can feel some air through the floor vents but not much. Any suggestions on what to look for other than small animals nesting? Thanks for any help. Ken

I believe the mode selection is vacuum controlled. check for a vacuum leak. Should be one small hose supplying the dash controls. May be a bad dash unit.[sm=americanasmiley.gif]

My 86 is all cable actuated, but I don't have A/C and therefore I don't have dash vents, just defrost and floor.

I'd pop the dash open and make sure the cables are doing what they're supposed to, then start taking the hvac box apart to clean out any blockage.

Defrost is the default for the system when it looses vacuum. You have a vacuum problem. Could be any of the following..the dash pushbutton switch, the short vacuum hose assembly(falls apart) that hooks to the back of it or the vacuum connection on the engine.

It could be a simple blockage at the cowl. Be sure to check the cowl (by the wipers) for leaves, or other debris, and look inside as far as you can. I had this problem when I bought my Dakota.
