Default bad fuel gauge or sending unit

Hey,

I drive a 1992 Dodge Ram (W150) and I'm having trouble with my gas guage. I can fill the whole tank but when I get in my truck it would read 3/4. now, when I fill it, it's stays up around 1/2-3/4 and then after about 10 minutes it goes down to E and stays there. after a bit of driving it will read WAY below E.

a friend of mine told me to replace the sending unit. but I figured I'd come on here and see what you all have to say before I go wasting my money and time.

whatever input you got would be greatly welcomed.

Thanks,
Larry

It's probably just the sending unit. If its not that, its either the wiring to/from the sending unit, or the gauge.
I stay with my original answer.
