Default INFO ON AN 1988 D250

Would anyone give me info on what to expect gas mileage wise on an 1988 D250 2wd, 360 4bbl, 4sp not sure of gears. 95,000 miles. I just want to know is 14-16 mpg highway too much to ask? What are the problem areas of the 1st gen Rams? Thanks

It'll probably be around that for highway mileage. Closer to 14 than 16...but the 4 barrel wouldn't be helping you out when it comes to mileage. Gears would be good to know. Tire size as well.

Don't know of any problems, but I'm not real familiar with the 1st generation of Rams...at least not the later years (85-91). They're definitely tough trucks. The only thing that seems to kill them is rust

First gen rams went through 93.

I got 10-12 in my w250 when it was bone stock, and I still get that. The 4bbl shouldn't hurt fuel economy unless you've got the secondaries open all the time. Depending on your ring and pinion ratio I'd say you're probably looking at 12-14mpg on the highway, and 8-10 in town.

I know...but last couple years went to Magnum motors IIRC. I know more about those than the older LA based engines.
