Default Rear diff rebuild

So I'm going to step up to the plate and try and rebuild my rear end... Boy its been a while . Well let me tell you what I got. I have a dodge of course 1996 ram 1500 with a 9.25 rear end. I've order all the parts and they should be in tommorrow. I was wondering if anyone had any tricks or any other input on doing this fun task??? I already got the info from randy's ring and pinon. I just wanted to hear from you guys??
This all started when I was driving down the road and I started to hear this whinning coming from the rear end it would only go away when I stopped. So I figured it was my bearings but then I took it to a tranny shop to get the tranny checked and my kick down adjusted just right.(i got it close but just not close enough. So any way The decide to take off the rear diff and said that there was wear on the gears(which ones???) So any way they said that they were too tight..
Then I went down to the local $ wheel shop to see what he had to say.. He said he thinks it is the bearings probally all of them. And that the trac loc is a throw away item.. So of course I orderd an upgrade.
So make a long story short I just wanted to know if you guys have any warnings for me and any do it your sel hints that you have found out.. I know I'm probably getting myself in too deep but thats part of the fun....

Try in the 2nd gen forum. 9.25 hasn't changed but none of us have ABS or anything of the sort to contend with that you might.

Well, I may be facing the same problem with my beast so this may be helpful to me as well. And mine, as we know, is a 1st gen.

When I put it in reverse I hear (and subsequantly feel) a hard bang backwards. Nothing soft but nothing insane either. Buddy says thats my rear diff. I thought it would be my tranny. Whats the word form the gurus?

I rebuilt my rear end in my 91 D-150. I have a 8 1/4 rear end. Stock gears in my truck was 3.55 now I have 4.10 and I can fill a huge diff. but it was not fun doing it.
