93 Dodge B250 losing power
just bought a 93 Dodge b250 conversion van and it seems to be losing power and spitting when i intially start it but after about 5-10 minutes it starts working just fine till i try to bring it to a constant speed at 65 and then it will jerk slightly and i ll have to change speed to make it stop doign that i am also seems to be losing oil pressure when the oil seems to be the at the full level.
if this is like the second gen dodge rams at all, the screen in the oil pump is clogged. Address it quickly or you will lose your engine as I did. Somebody missed some oil changes, can't do it with these newer cars and trucks. The salesman that sold me my truck told me it was a problem with the guage, not the pump. Stupid me. I'm not a mechanic, but I just had to fork over a bunch of money and lose my work truck and shut down my company with the same symptoms. Hate to see ya go through what I just did
matter of fact, your engine is going now, bring the van back. My dodge went without signal other than the oil pressure guage bouncing up and down with acceleration and deceleration... had a 83 chevy though that acted as you said on the highway and that engine went too. You got robbed and that person had to know it.
i said that a little wrong, I didn't go "out of business" I was merely shut down for a week because of it but all in all between the engine parts and labor, loss of days working it probably cost me about $5000 dollars to get a used engine with no warranty but thanks for the concern and sympathy. If it matters, my oil pressure guage jumped up and down like that for 3 years before my engine went (in other words, it took 3 YEARS of barely getting oil to kill that damn thing), BUT, the loss of power on top end specifically, and shimmying on the top end on my Chevy resulted in it dying THAT DAY. It felt fine until that day. I'm just a little suspicious because you just bought it and noticed it right away, so I say they saved their *** at your expense and lied to you.
