Default Truck is dead... really... REALLY... need help.

Maybe someone has an idea as to WTF happened...

I was driving home from the store and while accelorating away from a traffic light, with the pedal to the floor, she wouldn't accelorate anymore. She wouldnt get anwhere above 20mph, bouncing the pedal did nothing, pedal down produce no higher RPMs (hence no acceloration). It picked back up and lurched to normal and drove fine another block. Then did it again, nothing over 20mph and no pedal response in RPM.

I pulled into a parking lot and nursed to into a space and noticed my CEL and possibly my OIL light was on. I shut her off and started her back up, sounds like a cylinder is dead. Very course idle in PARK and stumbly (almost staling) idle in gear. I checked the oil and it was on the high side (I would attribute that to having been driven just before pulling the stick) but there seemed to be no coolant in my radiator (sqeezed the hoses and only air was present). There was a little sludge but no water in the catch can either.

My first instinct was I blew the motor and my temp gauge in fact (and according to previous belief) is broken. But there was no steam. Maybe because there was no water to make steam?

This is my fiances first truck, and it almsot made me cry on the side of the road to be powerless in this ordeal. She sat in the truck and watched me. When I had found defeat I almsot cried. She did.

I really have to figure out what happened so I can be her hero again.... this is gonna kill me.

Thanks for any help guys.

Too bad you live on the wrong side of the country. I love trying to fix problems.

Ok so the truck is acting weird. I'd add coolant and fire it up, see if it'll run. Check for steam out the tailpipe and leaks and whatnot. I'd also pull all of the sparkplugs and see if there's anything obvious that they can tell you. with the plugs out, fire it over and see if anything comes flying out the holes or if there are any funny noises.

On a side note I think your air filter is far too small. I run a 14x4 open element on mine and I noticed a HUGE improvement over the stock 10x3 or whatever it was.

Let us know what you find out.

If it's time for a new motor, consider dropping a rebuilt 360 in. No better time to pick up some extra power.

Get some water back in it and start her up and get back to us.
The description you gave almost sounds like a fuel problem.

I would also check the fuel filter. The new blended gas 10% will clean your gas parts of regular gas buildup. This also means the build-up in your tank. When this peels off it will clog gas filter and injectors. This happens mostly on higher milage or older trucks though. I haven't seen this problem yet in my 03 Ram
