Default Decoding Dodges

Are there any books available to decode part numbers on Dodge vehicles. I've found them for Chevy and Ford....but none for Dodge.

I'm trying to decode my 87 D100 4x4. I know the engine is a 318 and that's it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

Default RE: Decoding Dodges

Haynes/Chilton's manuals have a VIN decoder up front. On an old truck I wouldn't trust the VIN to tell you what engine you've got though. Best way to do that on the smallblock is to look for the big 318 or 360 cast into the driver's side of the block below the exhaust manifold.

The VIN doesn't really tell you much though, other than what plant it was built in, what engine it came with, gross weight, and a couple of other insignificant items.
