Just Added A New Dodge To The Family
Well, as the title says, 83 Dodge Ram W150 with a 360 4WD, automatic rebuilt transmission, lifted with 35 inch tires, painted camo, 17MPG. I couldn't believe that but, it is true. All for $610. It drove home without any problems at 75MPH. It only got about 14MPG going that fast. If I can get the pix on here, you can see how high it rides. I am 6 feet tall.[IMG][/IMG]

Check your odometer, I've got an 86 with a lift and 35" tires like yours and the very best I can get is about 12mpg doing 55mph. I've got 4.10's and a 727 auto.
Hell, even my 2002 Dakota doesn't get 17mpg, closer to 15 on the freeway, 12.5 combined.

All I know is what was listed on ebay here is the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=300039466500 I didn't believe it could get that good a mileage either when the guy told me. Alot of the emmissions stuff has been removed if not all.

I wouldn't know much about that but the tach does not work right now. I will have to find out more about what was in the ebay add. I am the person who has never had a 4x4. I know nothing about gears and such. I know tire sizes and gas mileage. Gas Mileage is a good indicator to a problem if you know what it normally gets. Always get to know mine. If something sounds out of line, the 3.23 let me know what I can look at to verify. I am new to all this and appreciatte any help. Ed

Well according to the calculator on ringpinion.com, you should be turning about 1900 rpm at 60. Not bad. I'm about 500rpm higher due to the 4.10 gearing.
I am jealous though, 17mpg is insanely high fuel economy for an old truck. By every right you should be getting closer to the 8-12mpg range like the rest of us. Mine gets the same economy now as it did when I got it. It was more or less bone stock when I bought mine back in 2001. Since then I've swapped out the intake, carb, exhaust, coil, distributor, timing chain, removed all emissions crap, lifted it 5", put 35" tires on, and welded the rear axle. But it still gets a good solid 11mpg on the freeway.
