Default 1984 Dodge D150 Newbie

I just purchased a 84 Dodge D150 longbed P/U 2WD 2 barrel carb. 318 engine V8....When I crank her up like in the morning or when she's been sittin for 8 or more hours...when I put it in gear it feels like I'm having to punch it to get it going either in reverse or in drive gear...doesn't seem like it has power after a cold start-up but after the a mile after it has been running I gain some power but not much....This is my first 84 Dodge D150 so I'm unfamiliar with the way it is suppose to run....secondly after a cold startup when I get to a stop sign or light the truck jerks like it wants to take off...but goes away after the engine has benn running...any suggestions are greatly appreciated..

Check your tranny fluid level. Second, take your truck to a tranny shop and get them to check it out.
