Road Runner horn
I was wondering if anyone knew how hard it would be to replace my horn on my truck with one form a Roadrunner, the beep - beep would sound way better than my old tuckered out one.
I've put several after market horns on my cars, anything from the OEM replacement to an 18-wheelers air horn.
As a rule, the worst part is finding a place to mount the new horn. While sometimes the new horn will fit where the old one was, you may just as well need to drill a few holes, and find some small extra nuts and bolts to secure it with. You may need some extra wiring as well, and in the case of an air horn, possibly some tubing (but be aware, the longer the tube, the more it affects the air pressure getting through, shorter is better).
Yes, locating your current horn(s) likely would assist you greatly.
Cable ties are awful handy, as is electrical tape, an electrical wire stripper, and a butane soldering torch.
You can do without any of that, but I'd still get some cable ties and electrical tape, maybe some twist-on connectors.
As for how to hook it up, I always use the auto's existing wires, and splice into that...
That way your normal horn button works, and this helps eliminate confusion and extra work.
Awoooooga :-)
