What is it that you're looking for?

 

I want to know what kind of engine this truck came with. The guy who had the truck before me gutted it for some reason but rebuilt/swapped the engine. I took the Carter Carb off of the engine to get a new one, and the guys at Oreilly said it was the carb from a 383, and I am just wondering what engine I have in the damn thing. I tried to look at the numbers cast into the block, but I need to clean them up before I can be sure, because right now I am getting that the engine is a 400. This doesn't seem right at all, considering that my year didn't come with a 400... I am confused as hell if you can't tell.
