Default '90 ram charger dead computer

I have a 1990 ram charger, after much diagnosis, I think the computer has died.Would it be possible to put a carb on this truck? It has a 360 with TBI. The carb would solve the fuel not coming through the injectors, but where would i get the spark? I'd rather not get a new computer from a junk yard, and a dealer wants a couple hundred for one. any other ideas?

I think it would cost more money to convert it than for the computer. I believe you will need a new distributor, (and pick-up coil), probably a new intake manifold, and a good 4 bl carb. A new carb itself is a few hundred $ and in the long run, it’s worth it to buy new, not a junkyard model. Those usually need a total rebuild, because the fuel turns into a varnish that plugs everything up. It would need to be a full rebuild, and if you haven't done one, it would be hard to adjust later.

Why do you think your computer is bad anyway?

one day i was on the highway and my truck over heated, twas the thermstat. I replaced that and the next day at the same place, the engine hickuped and died. I managed to restart it and drive to a gas station, then it died agian. I thought the head warped when it over heated and a weakend gasket lead to a blown gasket, nope. so i cleaned the intake and heads and went for the timing chain, just fine, replaced it anyway. This whole time i'm getting spark so it's not the ignition, new wires, rotor, cap, and plugs. it's also getting fuel though the lines but i don't believe my injectors are firing. they worked fine when i had the trotle body off the truck, so i think computer stopped sending signal to the injectors. Have not checked with a tester yet, but will soon.

i got it running again! after i checked the coil and injector signals fom the smec (both good) it fired right up. runs really rough becuse theres no vac lines, accessories, or radiator yet, but it runs. I checked the blinker code on the dash light, it gave me a new one, 11. According to my manuals, it's not getting a distributor positioning signal. I still have some work to do, but i'll let ya'll know. ya'll let me know if you have any ideas.
