looking at a 1991 ram 1ton
found this fella selling a 1991 ram 1ton, with a plow , new tires,, and 63,000 original miles (or atleast advertised as such)
was wondering what you guys think i should look for if when i go see it.. i dont know anything about the truck .. still havnt been able to get ahold of the seller yet.. it is advertised as the body rotted out.. witch im not worried about b.c i do plan on using this soley as a beater/plowtruck/ and maybe a futre restore project...
what motor/s were available ,, and trannies? axles? any info you guys can give me so i can be armed with some 1gen knowledge.. FI or carb? etc etc
o he is asking 1200 or OBO... and i know its been for sale for a while now..

I would look for ant tranny leaks or problems dealing with the transmission because they are bad about those, especially the automatics. If it's a 1 ton i bet the engine is a cummins diesel or 360 V-8.
318, 360, or Cummins 5.9 ISB. The tranny, if it's an auto, is most likely a torqueflight 727 3-speed. The engines are easy to tell apart, driver's side under about cyl 5 exhaust port on the block there should be a casting with either 318 or 360. Don't rely on the VIN, as old truck engines get swapped around all the time. My 86 w250 has a 78 or 79 360 in it.
