1988 Ram 50 2.0L G63B
Ok, I have a G63B 5spd and need a replacement, I can not afford a reman and cant find anyone local in NWGa to rebuild cheap. What engines will bolt up as most J/Y's around here have crushed anything Pre-89. Any chrysler year/makes that carry a bolt up compatible? I know it has to be the Manual one due to different cranks.
Well since the last post left me with no information lets try this...
Symptoms:
Engine had a slight tick (similar to a failing lifter)
Going 60mph on Interstate, oil pressure climbed (unknown height) and launched dipstick like a bullet into hood (not hard enough to dent) and sprayed 1-1.5 quarts of oil out of check hole
*did oil change*
Next day started truck and moved truck 20ft and left running, noticed the front of oil pan spraying oil (rate at .5qts per 2-3mins)
*shut off engine*
Now, Removed oil pan... *see attached picture of engine lower end crankshaft, ignore date stamp*
Is the crankshaft supposed to have the smooth areas? seems like weight balance was the reason, there was no metal in the oil or pan at all. none in the oil pump strainer either. so this condition was pre-existing.
---
Any clue as to whats wrong? I want to know should I just replace the pan gasket and see what happens or is the motor needing rebuild. The cylinder walls are smooth to sight, and oil was clean before oil change and after, spark plugs were slightly fouled and now replaced awaiting ideas.
Well?
