yes you can as long as you have the tailshaft section for the tranny, those transfer cases acually came in dodges from ealy 70's up till mid 80's, look in a junk yard for all the parts you need, when my np 203 goes out im gonna get a 205 since they are stronger and about 60lbs lighter

tailshaft section for my transmission, well its a TF-A727, what do you mean? Do I need to do anything to the 205, or is it just a different tailshaft in my TF-A727? sorry about the newbie questions.
What parts do I need?
What is a doubler? I dont know if I need one, does it just give you better gearing, or is more control over front diff and rear diff. Having 4lo in front and N in rear, for some maneuvering action. I just did a quick google search, but it mostly comes up with ram memory for computers.

OK thanks. I will probably just first buy a 205, rebuild it, then bolt it in. Later I will throw on the 203 section to make it a doubler. I read up on it, 1.96:1 is the 203, which coins the term "doubler" rounded up to 2:1. I wont do much rock crawling, just mud bogging, but I do like trail riding. I will twin stick my 205 for sure, then when I do the 203/205 doubler action, do the 3 stick.
Do you think I will need new drive shafts if I throw in a 205? or is the 208 and 205 the same size.
