Default Smoked the wiring!!

Fired her up to drive to work, heavy rainstorm, flipped on the lights and wipers, and heard a little "phhhht". Gauge started showing discharge, I figured the belt broke or came off. Pop the hood, steam and smoke from the harness, CRAP!!!! Yanked the battery cable off, and looked for fire. None! Left it sit, drove the diesel. Sure glad I got the brakes finished the night before.
Looked at it when I got home, after the rain stopped. The wires going down to the oil pressure sender and some wiring up around the carb are melted.
Anyways, rather than fix it, I'm just going to start the rebuild early. I was going to drive it the rest of the summer and wait until winter to strip it down. Anybody need a complete slant6/833OD?
After the wifes family re-union in a couple weeks (we keep the garage open in case of rain) I'll slide it inside and start in on it.
Strip it to the frame, clean, box, and paint the frame. Add rack and pinion steering with coilover suspension. Drop in the 4BTA Cummins, with TH475 trans. Re-paint the body, only need to do a little body work, mostly dents. 4 link the rear. Some other mods as time/cash permit.

Actually, I was going with a Ford 9", (or possibly a quick change) for the simplicity and parts availability.
I have a racing background, the frame will be stiffer, and the truck will handle when I'm done.

I will sell parts, PM offers. Motor/trans as a unit, (newer starter, fuel pump) with pedals, shifter, and linkage. Small bolt pattern rear, 3:54's, and front, spindles, etc. Good gas tank, radiator. Trades considered, I need a good straight drivers door, front bumper, grille, rack and pinion, bucket seats,.......
Love to have a fiberglass front end.
