Just took mine in today for a recall. Software issue or something they have to upload in the car. They said it would only take a half hour.

How did you find out about the recall? They'll send me something right? Or as I just remembered someone said go to Dodge.com with your VIN number and it should tell you. So what does this software affect? You must have the harddrive or that option "My GiG" right?

It has nothing to do with mygig it has to do with the proper operation of your transmission. TIPM needs to be reprogramed! As far as I knowof there are only two recalls for 08 Avengers the door latch and the TIPM transmission problem. My recall letter said it was for all 2008Avengers and Sebrings. I just got a call from the dealer saying it was all done and ready to be picked up. Only took them a 1/2 hour or so to fix the problem.

Just to clarify, the TIPM is not the transmission controller for the car. I believe the car has a regular PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and additionally a TIPM = Totally Integrated Power Module. It's kind of like a smart fuse box.
Also, not all Avenger's have TIPM's. I believe on the 2.7L and 3.5L's have TIPMS.
