Default Door latch broke

My Wife has had her R/T for 2 months. I read about the door latch recall the day AFTER we bought the car. I called the service manager at the dealership and was told "we don't have any parts in stock but we will call when they come in" Yesterday she had a friend 63 yrs old who is paralyzed on the right side. Guess what happened? Yup the door flew open. She was buckled in and nothing was damaged. (Thank God)
We called chrysler and they said we would need to have the car towed o the nearest dealer(not the one we bought it from) The same dealer I bought my 2005 CTD from. They refused to fix it because we didn't buy it there. My Wife called the dealer who we bought it from and told them the story but they couldn't believe they would say that so they called them. 4 Minutes later they called back and said WE are reporting them to Chrysler ourselves. "You are right they told us they wouldn't work on it also. Brookfield Motors is the dealership who refuses to fix the car and Beterra is the dealer who we bought the car from.
Brookfield told my Wife to drive the car back to the dealership were we bought it from! (with the door tied shut on a major highway with a distance of 30 to 40+ miles)
Dodge is allowing a rental car for my Wife because they dont know how long it will take to get the latch repaired because all the parts are on back order. They picked the car up today (flatbed) and we picked up her rental (ugly gold colored Ford Taurus!!!!!) I was pretty PO ed they couldn't give her another R/T I mean her car will be down for who knows how long and it is only 2 months old with 2500 miles on it and we still have to make the car payments.
I am also PO'ed that Dodge took 2 months to give us the official recall notice. Yup she received it yesterday (just as the tow truck picked her car up to bring it to brookfield motors.
Pretty upset about the whole thing.

Default RE: Door latch broke

Sorry to hear about what went on.Chrysler has justput a flight recorder in my R/T to record the shifting and other computer problems with my R/T. My door locks would unlock while driving, and than relock as soon as they would unlock. The lock problemhas been fixed today. They state the problem with my down shifting is software related, but that no damage will happen to the tranny. After three computerquick relearns, the problem is still there, but the recorder has recored the problem.Chrysler will take out the flight recorder tuesday. They still keep saying that they have a softwareupdate comeing very soon. I am a true Dodge fan, and I willalways be. Theywill fix the problems with the Avengers. I have been lucky with the dealership I have always bought from, as they take very good care of me and all their customers.
