These things move quickly
These Avenger R/T'sare quite quick. I had a kid in a Mustang on the highway today that would keep ******* me. After about 30 min. of this crap, I slowed down and let him pass me. He pulled up, pointed at the Avenger and started to laugh. It ended quick, as I dumped the gas to the floor, within seconds I was at 100mph. I backed off and he finaly cought up and passed me. I spoted him pulling into a rest stop, and I pulled in also. He could not believe that a Dodge could beat a Stang. He was only running a V-6 in his car, had it been an 8, I would have never ran away from him like I did. I told the kid I was running a V-6 also, but he thought I was running a V-8.
The thing that suprized me about the Avenger, was the quickness it had. I can only wonder what it would have been like if it did have a V-8 in it. Sorry to be ranting on like this, but I'm comeing from driving trucks most of my life. My last truck was a Dakota 4.7L V8with a lot of mods done to it. It could out run alot of cars and other trucks. Butthis Avenger R/Thas much quicker responce. I understand weight to hp ratio, but I thought the V-6 Mustangs had more hp and tq. It seemed as though the Stang had nothing to it.

What era Mustang would this be? Current (05-now), 94-04, or what?
If it was the later, it doesn't surprise me. V6 Mustang owners have an ego the size of Mount Rushmore, and the power of a Briggs & Stratton, in other words their like Honda Civic owners who rice up their Civics. I have smoked plenty of V6 Mustangs in my day of the previous models; however, the new ones are actually quite fast if equipped with a manual. The 4.0L V6 in the Mustang only produces 210hp & 240ft-lbs of tq, your Avenger produces 235hp & 232ft-lbs of tq. The current V6 Mustang is supposed to go from 0-60 in about 6.9 secs when equipped with the manual which is very close to the Avenger R/T, but that was done with people who are professionals at driving manuals. If it was a newer one, that is quite an accomplishment.
The only Mustang GT that I'm aware of that you could potentially rival is possibly a 96-97 Mustang when they switched over to the bland 4.6L SOHC Modular from the 5.0L Windsor. Those did 0-60 in about 6.8 secs which is around what the Avenger R/T can preform from what Car & Driver say.

It was a 90's model and no I did not ask much about his mustang. He stated it had a V-6, and I told him that mine was also a V-6. His reaction time to my rolling take off was very slow. So heis not a very good driver. But as I stated I was very amazed at how fast the Avengers pickup was. No it was not V8 type responsiveness (sp), (I've owned and raced enough V-8's to know). But, I am a believer in this 3.5L HO V-6.
The 3.5L is quite an impressive engine in any form, though the Mustang that guy had was pretty lame. Those do 0-60 in about 9.9 secs. Your 3.5L is way faster than that. Avenger R/Ts are nothing to sneer at I just wish they had either the full 250hp 3.5L as the LX cars (Charger, Magnum, 300) had let alone the 255hp version used in the 300M Special.
I have a 95 avenger 2.5L v6 and i can get away from the auto mustang v6's there nothing special at all i usually will pull around a car or two away, i have raced them quit a few times and the same thing happens. cant wait to get the 3.0 in her!!
