Default Modded my air box

About a week ago I took out my stock air box and did a little modding to it to get me by until I do a complete upgrade. (waiting and waiting on K&N) I cut off about an inch and a half of the piece of ducting that sticks into the box that leads from the scoop mounted above the grille. I then cut a 2" hole in the bottom of the box to allow more air in from under the car. I am in the process of fabricating a plastic scoop about the size of the factory one that mounts under the bumper towards the back of it. I am then going to run flexible tubing from the scoop to the hole in the bottom of the stock box. I am thinking that it "should" increase the amount of air coming in the box. I already have the drop in K&N filter, so it should be able to handle the increased airflow. I am going to try to keep the tubing as strait as I can because the more turns in it the more it slows down the flow.
If it seems to do no good, or causes problems, it it easy to take it off and plug the hole. But, as it is now, I truly think it slighty changed the tone of the stock box for the better. When you have the hood open and give it some gas it sounds slightly better than before the mod, so I am thinking it is definately getting more in there.

I will take some pics when I get home, and try to post them soon. I have been working a ton, and it's dark when I get off.

Thoughts on all of this?

Default RE: Modded my air box

Yesterday I finished making the scoop, and it turned out pretty good. I didn't have time to install it or take pics though, had to run to a wrestling tourney as soon as I got done. I did have time to install about a foot of extra hose that I had cut off for the piece that attached to the scoop to the hole. So for now I have the 1' or so section of hose sticking straight down towards the road, but if it is sucking more air, it has to be cooler air because it is pretty far away from the engine.
