Hello all, Ive just purchased a 08 Avenger with the 2.4 motor.
after a day of normal driving, my daughter went to work for a few hours. When she came out to go home she unlocked car with remote and started car it then shut off immediately. She tried again and same thing happened, 4-5 times, then it wouldn't start at all. A red light in the speedo, just below the MPH, was flashing as was a red lightning bolt. I had her open and close the door and lock and unlock again, and it started and kept running. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what was the problem and what can I do to fix?

This is an alarm issue. I believe there are new Software Updates for the computers to address this issue. you might have to visit the dealership for this one.

 

Was it installed by the dealership or was it an aftermarket install? If it was a aftermarket install sounds like the installer did not add it to the ignition wire. It might be drawing to much power from the start up. But keep us informed on what it is. I would personaly take it into a dealership.
