Default Over heating 2008 dodge Avenger

I have A 2008 Dodge Avenger I bought used in Nov. 2008 I have had no problems except for wheel bearings which was covered under warranty and the recall on the gear shifter ....Its has 86,000 miles on it. I was coming home from shopping on my car overheated which has never happen before I pulled over at A gas station and it was very low on antifreeze the gas station didn't have the kind I needed so I put water it and drove home and everything seems ok with it..I had just check it less then 2 weeks ago and it was full. I was wandering if anyone has had this problem with their's or if anyone may know what the problem could be.. any suggestion would be much appreciated.. Thanks so much

you have a V6 or 4 cylinder? you probably have a leak somewhere, might want to get it look at, under the car.

It is A 4 cyl..havn't seen any leaks, but who knows thanks for your suggestion. I am getting a radiator flush done on it and I am hoping this will help.

on the 4cylnder, the common leak point is the Thermostat housing on top of the transmission, just look under it, see if you find any pink crust.

once in a while, the waterpump would leak too, especially at ur mileage. Water pump is at the top/rear side of the engine, you can see it only when you are under the car.
