2010 Avenger Ticking noise when unlocked
My daughters 2010 Avenger:
When I use the remote to unlock the car door, about 5 seconds later a rapid ticking noise comes from the steering column area.
It does it for about 5 seconds then stops.
Any ideas what this is?
Thanks in advance!!

This is interesting, I have looked into this a little further here and it doesn't sound like a common issue.
How often is the issue happening, can the issue be predicted? Do you hear the ticking noise when the remote isn't used to unlock the car? The issue may involve remote interference or receiver related.
It may beneficial to bring the trends you've noticed to the service dept. at your local service facility.
Keep us posted if you can.
It happens everytime we unlock the car with the remote or key. (With the key-we unlock the door and open it and the alarm goes off, then we have to push the unlock button and then the ticking occurs) It is predictable.
My daughter said the first time it happened was when the AC was on, driving. It has happened a couple times with the AC on, but it has never happened with the heat on.
Thanks.

Thanks for the follow-up,
It sounds like you have been able to identify a trend with the issue. Often times when trying the resolve an issue, the more details the better.
I realize this may be an out of warranty expense, but since you're able to predict the issue, your dealer would be able to locate the issue quickly.
Thanks again, let me know how things go.
Take Care,
