Default Weird brake issue?

Hello all. I'm here with a problem about my my wife's 2014 Dodge Avenger with 46k mileage. No more warranty. Anyways, we were driving on the parkway and started to feel like we were riding over a rumble strip, the steering wheel was vibrating a bit, and when we went to go off the exit ramp she hit the brakes and it stuttered like the abs kicked in for no reason. Maybe a mile onto the new parkway it just went back to normal. The other weird thing is that this happened about a month ago but it stopped so I thought nothing of it. Any suggestions on what it could be or what to check?
Thanks in advance.

if what you are describing is a shimmy through the steering wheel during a high speed brake application...it is usually due to warped/excessive lateral run-out of the front brake rotors. Machining or replacement of the rotors is the fix.

I thought it could be that, but would it go away for a month with no sign and the happen again for a few minutes then stop again. I have the warped rotor issue before and it's a constant til they are changed but I'm definitely considering it. Is there any abs malfunction that could cause this?
