I just recently got a 2012 avenger and I'm looking at changing the shift **** in it,it's an automatic transmission,just wondering how I go about removing the old one to put on a new one

 

Just pull it straight up, the **** has a small snap ring inside of it that catches a notch in the shaft. The shaft that the **** goes onto has two flat sides to keep the **** from twisting. Going to take a little effort but it will come off.
