Default 2.4L engine swap help

I have an avenger that needs a new engine and I know it has the EDG PZEV California emissions WITH the EGR valve. When searching for a used engine to put in there are 2 options for the edg pzev, either with or without the egr valve. Close to where I live I can get an engine without the egr valve for half the price of one with the egr valve. Those are just the ones close enough that I would be willing to pick up and probably different prices and availability in a different location. So my question then is the egr valve the only difference? If that is the case wouldn't I be fine if I just swap the original exhaust manifold because that is where the egr is? And maybe the intake because that is where the vacuum hose is attached? Is there something I am missing here that would make this not work? I am new to the car so I thought maybe some that are more familiar with the car could help! Thanks in advance. Oh and any advice or info to make the removal/install problem free (yeah right haha) I would appreciate.

I have done something similar my avenger didn't have the EGR valve and I bought a motor with one and when I installed the motor I didn't have a smog pump so I added it and then the connectors for said smog pump now I have 17 codes that I can't clear so not sure where to go from here
