P2173 Code, Possible Manifold Leak?
I went to start my car this morning and there was a pop sound, maybe a backfire from the manifold? Car won't start, it cranks but no go. I think I may have confirmed some coolant in the oil..Where do I go from here? Is my engine screwed?
I'm a little disappointed I never got a single reply on a forum dedicated to Dodge. Regardless I solved my issue and I want to update for anyone who may come across this.
I had gotten a code for P2173, regarding the throttle actuator. At the same time I pulled the spark plugs and they were not in the best shape. So what I believe happened is the throttle body was no longer functioning correctly, the air/fuel mixture was off. Combined with the bad spark plugs this lead to a backfire from the intake. After replacing the plugs I was able to get it started tho it was idling rough, replaced the throttle body and tried a couple "relearn procedures" I found online as the manual for the throttle body just said talk to a mechanic. It now idles normally and the check engine light is gone. I was mistaken about the coolant in the oil, there was a smell and taste of gas however, the backfire simply had me worried something got seriously messed up.
