2008 - Current Dodge Avenger The new Dodge Avenger gives a sporty look to the often drab mid-sized sedan class, with the possible future option of AWD and a performance engine upgrade.

Dodge Avenger review

I liked the looks and feel of the car more than I expected to, though the driver's seat didn't feel good to my back (your back may vary).

A shame the AWD version won't get the sport suspension of the FWD R/T.

May I ask where your getting your info from?
I just saw & read where u got info, from.
I can assure you that they are misinformed.

All press release info from Dodge states the following...

Available all-wheel-drive, sport suspension and performance steering accentuate Avenger’s on-road attitude

All three are available, just not together

Odd for them not to make that clearer...

My info source is the brochure, specifically the features table in the back. The "firm feel" steering and "sport" suspension are only on the FWD R/T. The AWD is shown with regular steering and "touring" suspension, similar to the SXT.

I see what your talking about & glad u pointed this out to me.
I will be taking yoiur advice when my car comes in.
I plan to take it for nice long ride before I sign any papers!

Good thing is I see it has the ESP "Electronic Stability Program".
Which is number one thing I expect in a car & never will buy one without it!

Hi, my name is Roy and I live in Tampa. I don't have a dodge but would like to get one. But before I do, I have a couple questions:

1)Are there still problems with the engine to the point where there are recalls

2) How much would it take to fill up the tank if gas is $4.00

3) How can you tell the difference between an avenger with a camera and one without

4) Are there any good websites to get an avenger for a less expensive price than 19,000. Please Help me and tell me more about this car.

I have been a dodge tech for 24 years. The old avengers were crap. My wife just bought an 08 Avenger RT. If it wasn't a good car she wouldn't be driving it.

Which engine are you referring to is the question. The 3.5L has pretty much remained unchanged since 1999 so that would have the least amount of recall issues. The 3.5L is a proven engine. Mine has 161K and counting. The 2.4L I4 is pretty much new and a joint venture between Chrysler, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi using a Hyundai block so time will tell. The 2.7L was revised slightly in some time in the 2002-2004 time period to resolve the oil sludge issues and again in 2005 to provide a more consistent power band. My very bias opinion is go with the 3.5L.

That would be a fair assessment. I was looking at the old avengers six years ago and they were all falling apart back then. I'll see first gen Neons, Stratus, Intrepids, even a few K based cars, but I rarely ever see the old Avengers anymore.

That's a fair assumption, but you have to take into account the demographics of the owners. I've owned my 97 Avenger since, well, 97. The same as Bad Venge. You can be assured that there are more who know how to keep a car well maintained...Individual expectations can be critical, I respect that, but please don't throw us into the group that can't

Now, the first gen Avenger motors were poorly picked. They were underpowered, I can agree with that, but I can't agree that they were crap all together. Out of 11 years of service, my passenger door handle had an issue two months ago. I fixed it and it will probably be good for another 2-5 years when the sun dries the plastic. The rest of my car has been maintained. Sunroof, doesn't leak, windows don't leak, my car doesn't squeak, even after having a heart and legs transplant. Now, the paint on the spoiler...I'll bitch about that, lol.
